80's cartoons

This morning, when I woke up, I had a cup of wild blackberry herbal tea with honey while I watched Winnie the Pooh with Louis-Justin.

I didn't really care for Winnie when I was young. I don't think that I watched a lot of TV when I was my son's age, but I remember the shows I watched when I was around 7 to 10 years old: the Smurfs, Belle and Sebastian, Care Bears, Candy, Strawberry Shortcake, Popples, Rainbow Brite, Astro, The Flintstones, Paddington Bear, Inspector Gadget, Punky Brewster, Jem, My Little Pony, Popeye, She-Ra, Tom & Jerry, Fraggle Rock, Goldorak, Tintin, Maya the Bee, Demetan... Those are the ones I remember the most.

The shows I watched were all in French since I didn't know much English back then, but the titles were usually very similar to the English ones. Except for Strawberry Shortcake who was Fraisinette and the Smurfs who were Les Schtroumpfs, and the Care Bears who were Les Calinours...

What were your favorite cartoons as a child? :)

  3. *ah ah ah* My mom would tell you that I was the most beautiful little girl of the planet, obviously because she is my mother, but I still have everything saved in my parents house loft, and it means the school notebooks too with my first handwriting, I'm too sentimental, Oh! =P

Anyway, even if I also watched some of the cartoons you mentioned in your post I'm from the 90's generation (even if I was born in the 80's, but in the late 80's)cartoons. Dragon Ball occupys a huge part of my childhood, but I see the difference between it and the innocente cartoons of your age, Dragon Balls was really bloody and I guess it marked an age of change, cartoons are now much more violent and bloody.

Anyway I used to watch another ones like Rugrets!!, Tiny Toon Adventures, The Animaniacs, Ren and Stimpy (nowadays I remeber this cartoon has something gross, maybe because now I am more conscious of how ugly it looks :/), Doug, Spongebob Squarepants, Futurama, The Simpsons, Shin Chan (love it!), Garfield, ... oh as you can imagine there a million of cartoons I watched specially in those Sundays morning.

  4. But of course you were the prettiest little girl on the planet, my dear! :) Moms are the best. <3

I think it's wonderful that you still have your old school stuff! My mom also kept those things for me. Isn't it funny to look at our old handwriting?! So clumsy...

I agree that nowadays cartoons are much more bloody! I think there was violence in some of the cartoons I used to watch as a child, but not that much and I don't remember seeing blood. How sad that kids are now used to seeing violence & blood on a daily basis! :( Louis-Justin doesn't watch those kinds of cartoons, fortunately.

  5. If I'd be a mom I'd not let my children watch bloody cartoons too, childhood is to be lived happily with childish things, like cartoons which make children dream and laugh, don't forgetting books and bedtime stories ^^ I guess it is what children need. I guess it is also a way to make them calmer adults, don't you think?

I'm sure Louis-Justin is a very happy little boy, and the photos I see show it, this also means that you are a great mom too ^^

  6. Thank you Joana! Yes, Louis-Justin is definitely a calm and happy little boy and I think that I'm a pretty good mom! :) I'm proud of myself and also proud of my little cutie of course!

And I just read him his bedtime story... ;)

  7. Hello! Oh dear, you made me remember the good ol' days! Funny thing I actually saw many of those same shows, though I live in Costa Rica (and saw them in Spanish). I loved the Smurfs (called here Los Pitufos), loved Jem, Candy, Angel (another Japanese show about a girl who was looking for a seven coloured flower),Gigi, Heidi, then Pack-Man, the Potato Family, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...

  8. Pac-Man! I had forgotten about that! haha

I don't speak a word of Spanish (other than hola and gracias), so Los Pitufos sounds hilarious to me! ;)
