Well, I don't think that I'll be able to avoid it... I'll enter my thirties in less than a month! I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm taking it pretty well for the most part. It's still hard for me to believe that I'll be 30 in a few weeks though!

I don't feel old at all. Well, 30 is not old, but I mean that I don't feel that I'm getting older. Sure, I have some white hair now (which started right after my dad passed away) and I have a 5 year old child, I have a house, a car, bills to pay and responsabilities... But inside I still feel like a little girl. Well, a grown-up teenager maybe... OK, a young adult.

I had my first and biggest heartbreak over 14 years ago. That's almost half my age! I've been out of high school for over 13 years. I moved into my house almost 8 years ago. I lost my dad 4 years ago.

It feels like I was still a child not too long ago and now I'm a mom. I love this montage of me with Louis-Justin as a newborn and me as a baby with my mom. Aww, kisses!

My mom can't believe that her only child will be 30 either. I remember when my dad freaked out because his oldest daughter (my half-sister) turned 30 a little over 5 years ago... (So sad that he won't get to witness his youngest daughter's 30th birthday!) I don't want to think about MY child turning 30 anytime soon! ;)

I've never really cared about birthday cards before (well yes, of course it's always nice to receive them), but this year I think I'll need all the support I can get! So it would be wonderful to open cards from my friends, penpals, online buddies, customers and blog readers! So if you'd like to wish me a happy 30th birthday on December 12, that would be super awesome!

Some people have asked about birthday gifts... I honestly don't expect anything (just a "happy birthday" would be great!), but I always love sticker sheets, notecards, pens, markers, socks and scarves.

I know at least 3 other people who were born on December 12 like me: my dear friend and penpal Cindy in Canada, my oldest penpal Violaine's older daughter in Belgium (Marine) and Yvan, who's my son's cousin's dad (he's the boyfriend of Nicolas' younger sister). Anyone else that I should know of? :)

Enjoying the last few weeks of my twenties...

  1. I can't imagine how it is, the feelings I mean, but (well will look silly) I felt like you described when I turned 21, I felt now is the beginning of something I don't know what it is.

Keep one thing in your mind, no matter what chronological age you have, depends of you the age of your mind, and having a young and fresh mind you always will feel young enough to be happy. I mean gosh you are young!

  2. I have a habit of forgetting my age and I end up telling people I'm younger than I really am. Since I turned 20 it's gotten this way. I always felt 20 was "adult time" since you're no longer a teen.

You could always celebrate the first Anniversary of your 29th birthday! :)

  3. You're totally right, Joana! And I DO feel young at heart, so my physical age doesn't bother me that much.

Steph, that's an excellent idea! And I think it's funny that you forget your age! ;)

  4. By the way I forgot to mention that I thought that was you in the second photo and your son, like in the first. You are just like your mom ^^

  5. My dear Juli.....remember the quote:

"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don´t mind, it doesn´t matter."

I exactly know your thoughts and feelings...look at me, I became 31 past August! BUT I have to admit, that I am luckily healthy and have wonderful friends and an awesome family. That´s all that counts in the end. I do enjoy getting older with every new year...it´s a gift and I´m curious how old I get. Don´t worry too much and enjoy your life. It´s like you said...we are young at heart, look great (of course...ha ha ha) and still are young!!!
